British Offshore Helicopters

Training

Welcome British offshore Helicopters line training. During your line training you will learn to operate your Helicopter in the offshore environment. Here you will learn skill and procedures that will help you to operate a helicopter in the challenging Irish & North Sea.

 

  1. General Handling - 7 Sorties covering take off, landing, turns, climb, desent, emergencies & Circuits and aircraft operations. Min 7 Hours.
  2. Instrument flying - 7 sorties cross country, instrument flying & landings VOR/NDB/TACAN/GPS/ASP/PAR.Min 7 hours
  3. Night flying - 4 sorties.
  4. Advanced Handling - 10 sorties, Confined area landing and take off, (should include Rig T/O & Landings)
  5. Navigation - 7 sorties. Min 7 hours 
  6. Min Oil/gas rig Takeoff & landings,5 day flight, 3 night landing

Please note you might be expected to complete a check ride.

You must be able to operate effectively and be able to undertake safe flight operations.

  

The Line training Syllabus Min - 35 Hours total time required.

Call sign HELIB + ID no (please ensure no call sign conflicts occur). 

 

Plymouth is recommended as a training base and the Bell206, AS322 & MD500 can be used training helicopters.

Operations will be conducted on the AS365 or S76 depending on location

v Second officer - < 50 Hours

v First officer - 51 - 100 Hours

v Captain 101 - 750 Hours (also Training Captain 100+ req.)

v Senior Captain 751 - 1300 Hours

v Chief Pilot - >1301 Hours

 

Ranks May also be awarded on merit through instructor qualification, staff responsibility and experience and general support to the group.
